August 16, 2020 - I'm torn about this wine. For current drinking, it did not convince me, and I would not buy it again, because it has excessive alcohol and is a bit too expensive. However, I admire the wine in an "intellectual" sense, because there is obviously a lot of high quality primary material in the bottle. I wonder how this will evolve in the future, and suspect that it will become a delicious "baby" CdP, Gigondas or Vaqueyras in five or even ten years. In the past decade I have found fewer and fewer Grenache based wines that are pleasing and worth the money, especially those from the Rhone. Excessive alcohol has always been a problem for these wines in certain years, but with global warming it seems to be a relentless, constant problem. As a young man my wine education began with Provence and the Southern Rhone - I lived there - and so it pains me a lot to be avoiding these now, but that's what my taste buds are telling me.
