August 25, 2020 - Decanted for four hours then consumed over the next three. About as reliable a bottling as they come. I still think it could use another year or two of R & R to completely assimilate the oak, but it is sufficiently incorporated at this point. This bottle was a tidy package of earth, herbal, and fruit elements, nicely textured, round at mid-palate with a mild tannic salute at the finish.

More structure than fruit when young. Maybe the barrel was more telling as this bottle certainly developed nicely. I have only waded into the vintage.

8/26/20, 8:19 AM - j...I haven't had one of my '13s in a coupe of years now. There were a lot of tannins that needed air/time to smooth out, but I found the fruit to be quite good. In fact, if I remember right, I think I wrote that it drank like a wine that costs twice as much. I drank those '13s in '17 and '18. I think I have one left in the cellar and wanted to give it more time, and now I have. Maybe I should pop it soon?
