September 3, 2020 - Smudgy dark red/brown, hint of pink at the rim. I don’t have much experience of California (correction, Washington!) syrah; it’s a bit like a Barossa Shiraz turned down a notch, as opposed to a Rhône Syrah, especially with the lack of tannins. Subtle touches of mint and liquorice and a bit of cedary oak over the varietal core of dark jammy fruit.

9/6/20, 1:10 PM - I hope you enjoy exploring Washington State Syrahs! I think they have a meaty, sometimes described as "gamey" character. You might prefer a Rhone blend from WA: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre. See my recent comments on a very excellent wine, 2017 Gramercy Cellars Grenache The Third Man. Or for a very nice straight Syrah, see if you can get Les Collines Vineyard, 2016 or 2017, Gramercy Cellars Syrah.
