    September 6, 2020 - My first Geyserville

Decanted for an hour, decanted back into the bottle and tasted an hour later. Clearly this wine isn't meant to be rushed so I missed out on the better part of half the bottle.

Revisited 5 days later and good lord. No bizarre or particularly unique sensory notes (the usual mint/menthol, spice/pepper, *rich* mocha) but the clarity of expression and depth of articulation this far into the lifetime of this open bottle makes totally apparent the inevitable reward for long-term patience.

9/9/20, 4:55 AM - Geyserville in good vintages is an incredibly long-lived wine. Tanzer had the 1993 two years ago and wrote it would last another decade. He had the 1970 at the same tasting and noted it was showing beautifully. I try to give these at least a decade before wading in.
