November 9, 2020 - RPERRO hit it on the head! Smoked meats, pepper, cocoa powder...I also got a little Kalamata olive?
Deep, dark, blackish-purple, nearly glass-staining color. Really nice, varietally typical black fruits aromatics. Decanted, but only shortly (~15mins) before the first bite of my mid-rare, pepper crusted, butter dipped RMM Filet. Sublime pairing! I’ve got but a mere handful of wines that were assertive enough to stand up to my steak (being a staunch Pinot-file). And so, when I perused my list, this one jumped out and the choice ended up being perfect.
If you don’t know about this project, you should! Great concept, conceived by and with collaborations from a group of industry heavyweights.
Bought at a tasting in their (admittedly uppity) Tasting Salon a couple years ago, but at the end of a great day of discovery, throughout this quirky not-quite wine country region. And, though I had declared that I’m not a fan of Washington Syrah, this and the Efeste Cadleigh drank most recently, have me contemplating a serious reevaluation. My score might be stingy but rest assured that this was undoubtedly a great wine.
