December 6, 2020 - Decanted for 30 minutes, drank over two hours. Nose of leather, dusty chocolate, drying dark cherries, drying plums, even a bit of citrus pith. There's also a floral component, perhaps lavender. On the palate, the tannins are quite resolved and the alcohol, at 14.9, is not really perceptible. Finishes with a streak of acidity, though not as searing as classic Montalcino or most CCR. Stylistically, the wine is quite distinct from both: not nearly as concentrated as even classic Brunellos, but also much more giving than classic CCR. It's also much more evolved than one would expect from Brunello or CCR. It's drinking very well now, though I'm confident it will hold for a few years.
