Community Tasting Note

December 13, 2020 - Opened about 4 days ago and didn't think much of it. Didn't have much character and drank like a thin overproduced Malbec. Put the cork back in it and didn't think about it. Was planning on dumping but decided to give it a taste to see if it was fit to be used for Sunday gravy. To my surprise, this was pretty damn good. The nose had some funk mixed with toasted oak which I liked . The palate is much more nuanced with dark berries, cigar ash, and black currant. Finish is strong. Perhaps this just needs another decade in the cellar or a serious decant to fully show its capabilities. I am happy I decided not to dump it.

1/2/22, 5:22 PM - I am happy I read your note. Bought it at the Mendoza airport on my way to Chile and then the U.S. Bottle signed by Paul Hobbs at Market 17 in Fort Lauderdale. Lots of heat, alcohol (15%), and syrupy fruit without much else. I am going to put half the bottle aside and see.
