February 8, 2021 - Medium ruby. On the nose medium + intensity aromas of blackcurrant, cranberries, black pepper, toast, black cherries, red plums. The wine is dry with medium + acidity, medium + tannins, fine and ripe, medium alcohol, and medium + body. The flavor intensity is medium + with blackcurrant, cranberries, black pepper, toast, black cherries, red plums as well as a distinct mineral note (noted as briny by a prior taster). Interesting, complex, balanced wine. A bit short on the finish. This wine right now seems a bit thin mid palate- but may just a need a few hours to open up.

2/8/21, 12:34 PM - MANY thanks for the time you spent logging in your DETAILED analysis! 🙂 "This wine right now seems a bit thin mid palate- but may just a need a few hours to open up." And, HOPEFULLY the thinness isn't a function of the wine's relatively low 12.5% ABV... 🤔 Finally, IF you don't mind me asking, do you remember how you paired it & whether or not you decanted it?

2/8/21, 7:58 PM - Enjoyed reading your review. I would say that based on my palate that with most Bedrocks Syrah's that five to six years from bottling is when they are best. My bet is this is still going to take some time to get where it will end up. I am just beginning to open 2012's as an example. Just thought I might help add some basic advise for those who have Bedrock's in their cellar. I will likely try this bottle in 2023-2026 myself.

2/9/21, 8:04 AM - Thanks- I will hold onto the Syrahs awhile. I did not decant- and we had this wine one evening after dinner so not paired .

2/9/21, 1:54 PM - Thanks for sharing the notes. I think you will be extremely pleased with some of the ones you hang onto for a bit. They take on a new life once they shed the baby fat. Can't think of many bottles that didn't meet or exceed expectations. Bedrock = amazing QPR for my money!!
