February 19, 2021 - My experience is rather different than most of the notes I've read. Purchased on release and cellared ever since. Bought as my daughter was born in 94, but haven't had a bottle in over a decade and appears that I have posted any earlier notes. Pristine bottle. No ullage. No leakage. Cork is rather short, but stained only halfway and in great shape. Decanted and was overwhelmed with aromas of ripe cherries arising from the decanter. Had several glasses over the course of the evening and there's some to be had tonight as well. The color is a deep garnet with just the barest of light pink at the rim. No brick or brown. From the glass the nose is predominantly of ripe plums and a hint of nuttiness. Forward in the mouth with sweet fruit that is again primarily recipe plums. Very smooth. No hard edges. Mild, mature tannins. Medium finish and mostly up front. That would be my criticism and it is a mild one. I quite enjoyed this. This bottle, while mature, is not over the hill and if the one remaining bottle is like this, perhaps I'll have it on it's, and my daughter's, 30th birthday.
