February 26, 2021 - This is a fairly lean and acid driven style, and to my palate says “Tuscany” and “Bordeaux blend” in equal proportion. The fruit profile is definitely not Sangiovese but the medium body, bright acid (M+), and grippy but restrained and balanced tannins are reminiscent of Chianti.

Dark red fruit gives way to a more savory character of leather, rosemary and pine, a hint of smoke/toast, and a perfumed, musky-spicy-floral finish.

This is as good as you could ask for from a $20ish Supertuscan, and very food friendly. I’m a Chianti Classico loyalist but I enjoy the occasional side trip to a wine like this and I’d buy this again in another cool vintage.

Drinking well now but no hurry, it should be good for several years still. 6.7/10
