March 10, 2021 - Aging really well. Classic Montelena estate Cabernet. Balanced, refined and not over the top. Fruit, spice, oak and tannins combine into great wine.

Blueberry, Currant, cinnamon, vanilla, leather, and soft, velvety tannins that coat the tongue and serve up a nice, medium-long finish. Wow! Have a worthy meal ready to pair with this beauty.

3/11/21, 5:23 AM - From the looks of many of your notes, you appreciate old world style in new world wines like I do, as well as the classics AND you age and decant appropriately! Your ex-father-in-law seems to have taught you well! Keep the notes coming, thanks for the update on the 2008 Montelena Estate! FYI always give Montelena a long decant it benefits more than most... I sometimes give 5-8 hours and it goes through a cycle where it starts good but closed, opens up a little at 2-3 hours then closes down again for an hour or two, only to blossom to its best sometime after 5 hours in the decanter. Many, many people think the wine is dead in that middle period or only drink it Pnp and get disappointed but they sadly missed the glory of the wine. Thankfully Bo Barrett still makes this wine like his father did...something that can not be said for the likes of Charlie Wagner at Caymus unfortunately.

    Cheers!
