  March 23, 2021 - The fill was into the neck and the cork was pristine; double decanted an hour before dinner. Healthy purple core with no bricking. Introverted bouquet, reluctantly offering up notes of cassis, crushed stones, tobacco and earth. Quite austere and closed on the palate, with a short and astringent finish. This bottle was closed down tight, and lacked the aromatics, flesh, texture and concentration of previous examples. Going through a funky stage?

  3/26/21, 7:54 AM - 2013 was hailed highly by the critics as the best vintage in California in decades. I have not seen much movement in the wines since they were bottled. To quote a winemaker/friend I spoke with just yesterday when this topic arose, the 2013's may prove to be great in 20 years, but they remain all structure and offer little fruit at this point.

  3/26/21, 8:02 AM - I have had some stellar bottles of the ‘13 Kapcsandy (I bought almost 2 cases!) but this bottle was frightfully backward and unyielding.

  3/26/21, 8:26 AM - Wow. That is good to hear. Your exception has been my rule. I would love to wade into the 13s, but I have been so disappointed to date that I am awaiting positive comments on CT. Better luck on your future bottles. Hopefully it was just flawed.

  7/10/21, 9:36 AM - I don't post public tasting notes but I thought I'd take a minute to chime in and agree with TBABES on this one. Had a bottle last night. 90 minute decant. Very good structure & body but very little fruit. Drank over 3 hours and it did open up a little bit but it was far from living up to the hype.
