April 1, 2021 - Dream Trip - Napa On A Mission - All My favorites Plus A Few New Ones; 4/1/2021-4/4/2021 (Napa Valley): Of all of the MM wines, even with Dr Crane as my general favorite, I was most intrigued on how this would end up in bottle as the final blend since this is their new vineyard and Kaplan is a wizard. Yes a faceoff between FP VHR vs SK MM VHR is in order- you could probably sell tickets for that one its just a matter of when not if.

I will not rate it this time around but there is no doubt this will be amazing. Group notes: insanely built with amazing structure and stuffing that needs a ton of time in bottle or possibly a super long decant. We all were drawn to this one like months to a flame trying to figure out how to get this to open - I think I may have a workers comp claim to file for carpal tunnel. If there was a blender in the room, this bottle would have found its way in there that's how bad we all wanted in on this beauty. It just kept getting better and better.

Excited for 2024 to see how these are developing in bottle.

4/6/21, 7:11 PM - Thanks for the notes as always Lite! 3 bottles and a Mag rest in the cellar today. I'm in for the VHR vs. showdown in 10 years. See you then!

4/7/21, 2:00 PM - Ha! Let’s book it for 6 years from now (like we will wait that long, who are we kidding) so I have a mod term event to look forward to :)

4/8/21, 7:03 PM - It seems there will be a lot of '18s that we will be sitting on til at least '24 to gauge results......such intense structure to them! Great notes, Lite!

4/8/21, 7:16 PM - Thanks Mark. Still plugging away :)

There is nothing more that I appreciate than a well built wine that is food now but will be great with short to mid term cellaring. Great sweet spot for me too!

4/9/21, 6:06 AM - Every year when we go, we say it's our 'last' time. By the end of the week, we're really wishing it would be....but a year later, we're back again! We said we weren't going to go last year and we went during covid anyway and caught them for one of the few weeks they were all open!
