June 28, 2021 - Much better on second day as it fills out and gets more flavorful. Nothing amazing and not as good as older vintages.

12/9/21, 5:41 PM - I read recently that the sources for this blend is completely different from past years- everywhere but stags leap. New wine maker, different blend, different grape sources. Huh.

I think the last vintage that Ed and Kirk Venge were involved in were 2017? They were holding fire sales on that vintage, which has turned out decently well. I think the latest owners (Seven Apart label) use Erickson and he was involved in 2018+ BV and does the Seven Apart. I buy the Seven Apart Expedition -- really good and fair pricing for Napa. They are using the prior BV vineyard sources for Seven Apart I believe. I'll be interested to see if they keep making the BV label.
