Community Tasting Note

  • Rote Kappelle Likes this wine: 92 points

July 15, 2021 - Under stelvin, note made after about 6 hours open, no decant.

Medium deep cherry/ruby, intensity of colour to rim as glass tilted.

Nose is a lush mix of strawberry and raspberry, a hint of earth and, possibly, a touch of oak derived spice?

Palate is luscious, with good length and intensity and finished by very fine, ripe, supportive tannins. The mouth feel is a real star here - velvety, yet there is just the right amount of tannin and acid to ensure the wine doesn't seem dead, or baggy. Flavours as per the nose. Fruit forward in style but none the worse for it. You will want to guzzle. I could mark this higher, although I would want a little more complexity for that. However, this is outstanding drinking and they deserve praise for making such a delightful wine.

I guess this might cellar, but why bother when it is so good now?
