July 17, 2021 - Under stelvin, note made 24 hours after opening. The wine had not changed greatly, so it likely has good cellaring potential.
I was really looking forward to trying this wine. Somehow it did not enthuse. Make no mistake, it is well made and very good, but I get no magic. My score reflects the Cellar Tracker scale, so don't dismiss the wine because of the numerical score.
The colour is medium deep ruby-garnet, but not vibrant and that, I think, is the key to my sense of dissatisfaction.
The nose is fairly simple, on the sweeter Grenache spectrum, not quite jammy, or baked but heading that way.
The palate is quite substantial, but dominated by astringent tannins and flavours that, whilst enjoyable enough, fall away a bit quickly and seem a little hollow. A fairly simple wine. I won't give up on this winery, but this hardly wins me over.1,190 views
