August 1, 2021 - Taken to Claridges for our wedding anniversary. Ruby with almost no bricking. Right off the bat crystalline fruit and mushroom nose. Uber concentrated yet refined strawberry and red fruited palate. Over time the nose put on some more trademark DRC stemminess and smoke with swirling. The palate gained a tinge of caramel and green bean. The wine did close somewhat in the middle glass, then reopened. Just an amazing wine on an amazing evening with my wife, she rated it 98-99. If there was one element sort of missing it was the stemminess on the nose but the ultra refined palate more than makes up for it. One of those wines you really miss after the last drop and keep thinking about it for days afterwards!
