Medium intensity, ruby colour.
Nose
Medium intensity, primary aromas of red fruit, plum and aromas of black fruit, blackberry, hint of spice, black pepper. Secondary aromas include a hint of smoke and wood, maybe also some tertiary “leaves” sensation.
Palate
Dry, with medium acidity, soft medium tannins, high alcohol and medium body, medium flavour intensity and similar flavour characteristics as on the nose with the black fruit becoming more prominent. Long finish.
Conclusions
A well balanced wine, with a good concentration and a pleasantly long finish. Perhaps a bit weak on complexity, but overall a very good wine, especially given it can be bought on offer for around £8 per bottle. I preferred the 2015 of the same wine where the aromas and flavours were a bit more pronounced, but the 2016 is still a tremendous wine.5 people found this helpful 2,827 views
