Community Tasting Note

August 14, 2021 - Tasted at a Vine Vault tasting in Austin.......the third in a trio of green wines. Couldn't really appreciate much fruit. This bottle really closed down. Obviously needs more time. Maybe a hint of balsa wood? That's all I took note of other than the 'green' tones.

8/14/21, 12:18 PM - I’m wondering if these weren’t aired out…or perhaps the ‘q8s have shut down in bottle. We tasted most of these in June and no greenies. Will be interesting to see if our experience tonite mirrors yours from Austin.

8/14/21, 12:34 PM - GT, I was shocked....I love this producer, but these either were not opened and aired out enough or they are shutting down. I had a similar experience with the 2018 Lerner Project 18, their entry wine this past month. Check out my two reviews for that......

8/15/21, 9:26 AM - Update from the HTX event…no green notes in the Lerner wines, the Armstrong was good but needed air, the RMS needs the oak to integrate. 3 way tie for WOTN - ‘18 Spottswoode/‘19 Tor VHR/‘16 Lerner Reserve.

8/15/21, 9:49 AM - Lol......how could all 4 of us be so turned off by the 3 green Lerners that we all poured them into the dump buckets? Did they open and air the HOU bottles differently? Did they read the AUS notes? Is there big bottle variation like I found in my Project 18 bottles? I'd really like to know....ty for posting your findings, I really appreciate it.

I've never been a big Jarvis fan, though I do enjoy their Cab F when aged a long time. The cab just doesn't float my palate as much. My notes are up for them, also.

We did enjoy the '18 SPOTTSWOODE cab, it'll be a good one, but the Tor VHR was the 2nd WOTN for all 4 of us behind the Seven Stones '18.
