September 19, 2021 - Well, what a splendid surprise this was. I don't generally expect much from Langhe Neb and opened this on a Sunday as a cheap and cheerful. Under cork, no decant, opened about 2 hours when note made and no major changes 24 hours later,
Colour is ruby, bright and light-medium depth.
Nose is tarry/earthy, with cherry and dried herbs (Thyme to me but I won't quibble if you had a different herb in mind). I didn't get roses. There is a tiny whiff of candied fruit. Charming.
Palate is surprisingly intense, very long and fresh, with flavours as per nose. There are plenty of fine tannins to remove unwanted enamel from your teeth, so this should be one recommended by your local dental association. Is this Barolo standard? No, but it isn't a huge way off and represents tremendous value for money. Sensational with food.1 person found this helpful 2,058 views
