Community Tasting Note

October 12, 2021 - Last tasted 3 years ago, this is now at the later end of its peak drinking window, and I agree with Purple Tooth that it is time to be consuming this before it starts to decline. This is ready straight from the bottle now and everything is integrated and silky smooth, but with a hint of tannin underpinning it all. Some faint harsher notes are starting to appear on the finish which will probably accentuate with further age. This is probably one of the best value wines I have purchased over the last couple of decades and has always punched way above its weight. 91+

12/19/21, 8:22 AM - Thanks, David and Purple Tooth, for the updates on this wine. This has become one of my favorite value Bordeaux producers as well. I’ve liked the 2017 very much recently. It’s very, very approachable and is such a big, concentrated wine you would never know it had such an obscenely high ABV (15%). I’m still sitting on my 2014s. They have been a bit rough heretofore and seem like they need more time for the oak to integrate and to come together. Hopefully, this will happen in the next few years.
