Big Juicy Red Likes this wine:
October 25, 2021 - When I first tasted this wine in early 2019 it was a big bruzer. I remember thinking it drank more like a Zin than a Fleurie. Now, 2.5 years later, it’s coming into balance. The tannins have faded, but so has some of the big fruit.
When I first opened the wine, it showed some typical Fleurie pomegranate and blue/black fruit notes, but they faded after 30 minutes. The nose still says Fleurie, but the taste is darker, stealier and more mineral driven.
This is my first experience aging a Tardive, so it’s been interesting to see how it evolves. I’ve got two more bottles that I think I’ll sit on for a few more months and see what happens.
As for a subjective evaluation, it’s nice, but not quite my cup of tea. I prefer the lighter and brighter style. If it’s going to be dark, it needs more complexity and a better finish, like a good Morgon.1 person found this helpful 1,525 views
