Community Tasting Note

  • CheviotCellar Does not like this wine: 87 points

November 23, 2021 - A lot to talk about concerning this wine, an equal blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Petit Verdot.

Dark color but only 50% transparent. Nose is funky syrah, peppery and perfumy, dark berry fruit. Comes across as cheaper table wine. Palate is better, also spicy, oak driven. Fruit flavors are harsh and unpolished. Its interesting and fine with charcuterie but I could say that about a lot spanish wines at half the price.

Now lets get to Sucklings 93. Of course its laughable, 93 CT is about a 97 on sucklings scale, making this an 87-89. Suckling overscores cheap wines and for wines $100+ scores the same as Parker and everyone else. I really don’t understand why any consumer would respect his ratings. He’s a hype man for the low end and mass industry.

In the end, I didn't buy the wine because of JS, I saw the 200 CT ratings and figured it was a solid wine, which it almost is.
