Community Tasting Note

  • Mark1npt Likes this wine: 97 points

January 10, 2022 - Same decant and barrel treatment as the others. Notes suffered from this one at the end of the tasting and having to hustle to our next appointment. I simply wrote "great wine" on my sheet. Tough to pick a fav with all these great B Cellars wines. This one perhaps had the most sweet red fruit of the three.

I am a big MHOPPER fan and went in with the intention of only buying that one, however the others were so good, I had to get a couple. They are all different and I personally would not age them 20 years like you would a Dunn or Spotteswood. The '15 is spectacular right now, the '16 was maybe better a year ago? My '18s I've barely touched yet. The '19s are presenting as early drinkers like the '15 and '16 were.

1/14/22, 11:25 AM - Appreciate it. If only getting one of them would you go To Kalon? Want to snap a couple of the biggest baddest Venge made of the 19s. Just had a 16 To Kalon on NYE that was incredible. My first of that vintage so can’t compare to a year ago.

1/14/22, 11:33 AM - Oh man, it's really hard to pick a fav as you can tell from the same score I gave each of them. I would go with whichever fruit profile of the three vineyards you love the most. No matter what choice you make you can't go wrong. I should note: we did not get barrel samples of GIII, Bourn or Las Piedras this trip, but I have no doubt they'd score up there (94-97), too. Bourn is my least fav of the Becks. Just never really did much for me, but I really can't tell you why.

1/15/22, 6:32 AM - B&B - Chatting with Ryan at BC the Crane and LPV will likely be the first to sell out. LPV is my wife's favorite, typically silky smooth with lots of dark fruits. Crane will be more structured and mineral driven, always a great wine. I went with both Cranes and LPV. If you're in the Platinum club, Bourne and GIII will be in the Spring shipment while MH and TK will be in the Fall shipment.
