February 3, 2022 - Really lovely wine. First time having a Margaret River wine. Pale lemon color. Pronounced aroma intensity - lemon, lime, apple, apricot and baking spices and hint of vanilla and oak. On palate med+ acidity and medium body. Beautiful citrus and stone fruit and vibrant baking spice on palate. Nice oak notes of vanilla and cream. This is really a very good wine - can’t wait to pop more bottles.

The LEAS Chardonnay style has evolved a little over the past few vintages, however it is generally a wine that you can cellar with confidence. I recommend trying a few older vintages if you can track them down. 2006 and 2008 looking superb at the moment. -

2/3/22, 6:52 PM - Thank you for the recommendations. My wife and I have been trying to get to Margaret River for the past 2 years but, you know, Covid. We have our fingers crossed for a trip in August. I have a library tasting planned at both Leeuwin and Vasse Felix - hope we can go!

2/3/22, 10:09 PM - Having done the Margaret River trip several times, I can assertively recommend Pierro as the best Chardonnay (especially if you can get your hands on a bottle of the VR/Vintage Reserve). However, both LEAS and Vasse Felix are right up there too.
