February 24, 2022 - From a bottle I had initially coravined about two months ago. Just as fresh as the day I first used the coravin, so score one point for the coravin. PnP at cellar temperature. This is a wine that, despite its judicious use oak, doesn't need any serious decanting, so it's good to go out of the gate. Blackberries and dark fruit are abundant, with good integration of the oak, and the 15.5% ABV is not immediately evident. Medium acidity, medium plus tannins. 70% Monastrell, 30% Cab Sauv. Is it a fruit bomb? Yes. Is it a jolly rancher like Caymus or Silver Oak? Fortunately, absolutely not. A great pairing for grilled rack of lamb or skirt steak with chimichurri. Always a crowd pleaser and house favorite, though not overly complex. This is a very nice new world styled wine, despite being from Spain. If you like Napa cabs, you'll like this wine.
