June 30, 2022 - Brought this bottle to a michelin starred restaurant in London, they broke the cork and half dropped back in the bottle, causing them to decant and filter (urgh!!) the wine. Dinner was protracted and the wine was served three hours later, warmer than ideal!

Nose was promising, red fruits, pencil shaving and hints of coffee/chocolate but the palate was underwhelming. It lack intensity and vibrancy. Not sure if it was because of the filter and decanting combination, or just a poor bottle (given cork condition). Luckily (or not) there are 11 bottles remaining from this parcel i bought at Christies

6/30/22, 2:26 PM - In my experience this wine needs and stands up to a very long decant. My guess is potential cork problems and the effect of shaking up the sediment then filtering it. My advice is always to double decant before taking a great wine (especially older) to a restaurant. Decant, give it some time to aerate while cleaning the bottle and letting it drain, then pour back into the bottle and cork to transport... works beautifully and reduces the risks you encountered. Better luck next time with what should be gorgeous bottles of Bordeaux. Cheers!
