Community Tasting Note

  • red freddy Likes this wine: 91 points

    July 14, 2022 - Impulse purchase @ Costco
    14.5% abv - $13 (after $7 off)
Served slightly-chilled (66f) with Pork Chops over Orzo Pasta, sauteed Zucchini and Onion with Salad.

Clear ruby-red in the glass. Nose of Raspberry and red fruit on the nose, with more of a Cranberry and Cherry on the palate and some notes of Cola. Light to Medium Bodied with moderate acid, and subtle tannins. Pleasant lingering finish. Spouse Endorsed. Will buy more.

Wine compared well with a recently purchased 2017 Lucas and Lewellen Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara - Central Coast) in an informal side-by-side taste comparison. Both are legitimate 90 point contenders imho, and excellent examples of the California 'New-World' style of Pinot Noir; reminiscent of a Kosta Browne or Williams Selyem, but not quite yet the same league of excellence.

    2/11/23, 10:04 AM - RED FREDDY I am a fan
You and I are only ones that liked the 2020 Windemere Pinot as I bought 8 bottles gave 2 bottles to friends.
I try all of your 90 or higher wines
FYI I just bought from Costco
2019 Brick Barn Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills for $15 at the winery it sells for $60. Close to Windemere but 1 point higher I think

2/13/23, 8:22 PM - Thanks for your kind words tkanemoto@comcast.net. We must have the same tastes. I got 2 bottles of Brick Barn Fri @ $15 (after $11 disc). I haven't posted a Tasting Note yet, but its another 90 pt contender. 🎆 I gave a partial bottle to my oenophile neighbor who I exchange some wine with - he said "very smooth-hits the spot." I've already gone back to buy a case.

The Brick Barn Pinot Noir goes really well with Costco's housemade Salmon Milano. If you happen to frequent the Novato Costco, you should get to know Selmon, their wine salesman. 🍷
