March 28, 2009 - Decanted for about 2 hours before serving with a grilled prime ribeye steak. Deep purple, almost black, in color. Expansive nose of dark fruits and intense cassis. Flavors of very ripe fruit, espresso and chocolate. Quite tannic, prominent oak and alcohol, and I also got a trace of VA. This was right on the edge of being overripe and disjointed, but it worked well with the flavors and richness of the beef.
