Decanted for 1 hour. A hefty 15.5% alcohol but doesn't feel hot or overpowering.chocolate and vanilla on the attack with some dark fruits, even dried fruits, some prune flavour develops. Then the finish, it must be a good 45-60 seconds, very impressive indeed for the price

Decanted for 45 minutes. Another Spanish monster, big, dense and 15.5% alcohol. Loads of ripe jammy blackcurrent fruit on the nose, but you can smell the alcohol still pushing through giving it a bit too much heat for mrs. A big fruity mouthful, with the cab sav blackcurrents and blackberries leaping out, it's fairly tannic but they're smooth and not harsh. After another 30 mins or so the fruit and heat has receded a bitbut this is a blockbuster of a wine, would like to stash a few away but not for much more than 5 years as I'm not getting enough acidity to keep this in balance.

2007 Teso La Monja Toro Victorino Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
93 points
Deep, dark and dense purple colour, mulberries and spice on the nose and a dash of mediterenean herbs. This has lovely balance and structure, serious but elegent, it just needs maybe 5 more years for the tannins to resolve and integrate and it will be 96
Red
1970 Faustino Rioja I Gran Reserva Spain, La Rioja, Rioja
96 points
Decanted but could drink straight away, now quite light bodied but still vibrant in colour, really expressive evolved nose of savory flavours lovely mature Rioja but drink within 45 min to 1 hr as it falls apart quite quickly
