Flight 1 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
1988 Lanson Champagne Noble Cuvée de Lanson Brut France, Champagne
Raisin on the nose, very rich full bodied and super long. Changed my opinion of Lanson.

White - Sparkling
1996 Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Grand Cru Extra Brut Avize France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Excellent smooth mousse. Very muted at first not giving up much. Acidity was very high and slightly over powered the food. After about 45 minutes lovely aromas of biscuites and the acidity toned down significantly.

Flight 2 (1 note)

White
2005 Château Brown Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Totally disjointed. The nose was very over powering and extremely difficult to ignore. Way too much oak?

Flight 3 (3 notes)

Red
1982 Château Pontet-Canet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
So young for a 28 year old wine and with plenty of stuffing for at least another 15 years. It could easily have been mistook for a wine 15 years younger. This was my first 1982 Bordeaux and I have just realised that my 2000 and 2005 Bordeaux are not going to be ready until about 2030 :-)
Red
1985 Château Batailley France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
No way as youthful as the 1986 Batailley drank on the same night. Light ruby red. Drinking beautiful. Drink up soon.

Much younger than the 1985. This is only hitting its stride now at the age of 24! Decent enough concentration of fruit and tannins with good acidity.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

White - Sweet/Dessert
2001 Château Rieussec France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Yellow gold in colour. Thick, concentrated, sweet yet great balance from the acidity. A hugh life ahead of it. Showed better than the last bottle. I need to forget about the other bottles now for at least 10 years!

White - Sweet/Dessert
1993 Château Pajzos Tokaji Esszencia Hungary, Tokaji
Served blind. Light brown in colour. Viscous and super sweet. I have drunk Tokaji before but this was the sweetest ever - a Esszencia?, the only other clue was that a winemaker from Pomerol was involved? Oldest great vintage after the Soviet block collapsed was 1993. So a 1993 Tokaji Esszencia.
