This is my last bottle; I'm going to miss this wine! Aging well - all of its youthful bubblegum and big fruit have faded away and left a very elegant Pinot. On the negative side, the alcohol is showing, as is the oak. Neither holds this back too much, though, and it's still delicious.

Slightly candied on the nose, with red cherries. Decent structure. Easy-drinking, slightly lean (even at 14.5%). Good acid, fruit-forward. $40

Shyish nose, darker. Smooth. Hot, at 15% alcohol. Chocolate, almost Zin- or Port-like. Decent structure, though. $46

2007 Domaine Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée La Cote Ronde

High-toned nose, interesting. Good structure. Slightly stemmy. Old-world style, very unlike most of the '07s I've had, even at 14.5%. Not ready. $60

Beautiful nose, high-toned red cherry. Smooth and juicy. Elegant. Good structure, black fruit.

2007 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

Talcy grandma nose. Smooth, talc, easy-drinking. Grape jelly. The second bottle was funkier and almost bretty.

2006 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau

Great nose, dark. Olives, garrigue, slightly green. Very representative, and right where I like my CdP. Good structure, long.
