White
N.V. Round Hill Chardonnay Reindeer Ranch USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena

Not sure if it was this one (it didn't list Chardonnay). Pinot Gris on the nose, with lots of pears. More like a California Sauv Blanc on the palate. Simple but solid. $7
White - Sparkling
2001 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Coeur de Cuvée France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
95 points
Wow, best Champagne I've ever had. Subtle toasty nose. On the palate, gorgeous - the fruit hits right on the attack, and the massive flavors transform at every second through the lingering finish to make a beautiful arc. Fruit salad, with lemon and biscuit, and a very slight hint of foxiness. Amazing acidity, and a bizarre, almost tannic grip. Delicious. $128
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Réserve Rosée France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
89 points
In-your-face flavors, pleasant but simple, with a rustic texture. Creamy and effervescent. Quite dry. Only a slight foxiness. $64
Red
2007 Antigal Malbec 1 Argentina, Mendoza
85 points
Blackberry and oak nose. Simple, slightly earthy, but definite malbec. Unexciting. $16
Red
2008 Betz Family Syrah La Côte Rousse USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain
91 points
Another acclaimed Washington Syrah that I definitely appreciate but don't necessarily love. This is very similar to the Owen Roe Chapel Block and the Cayuse Armada, with a bizarre wild funky blackberry and blueberry nose with talc. Smooth, oaky, dry, elegant, restrained. $57

Red
2001 Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Amazing nose - stately, structured, exotic, representative. Very tannic, acidic. Talc, granny flavors. Just a massive but elegant bottle of wine that's nowhere near its peak, but is gorgeous right now. $80
