White
2002 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Valmur France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
91 points
Delicious lemony goodness, while still having some weight (and subtle oak?) to it. Chablis to the bone. The age is great - just starting to get that secondary cookie note.
Red
1973 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Popped and poured, from a bottle with great ullage into the neck and a solid cork. Decent color, salmon but not brown. There's no getting around the fact that this must have been at its peak 10-15 years ago, but this is still fascinating and downright tasty. Great mouthfeel, with a tiny bit of weight left, tart red raspberry fruit poking through, still a bit of tannins hanging in there as well. No soy sauce or duck to be found. The finish evolves and sails on for ages. Definitely more interesting than brilliant, but wow.

Red
2002 Domaine de la Vougeraie Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
91 points
Coming after the 1973 BV, this started off a little jarring with the fruit, but quickly settled into a wine that shows what I like about red Burgundy when it's done well. Good body, great acid without being thin or tart, and round red fruit. Very elegant. Great age, could use a few more years.
Red
2007 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Gigondas Pierre Aiguille France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
94 points
Wow! I definitely didn't expect this out of a Gigondas, let alone an '07. This rivals a mid-tier CdP in a good vintage. Awesome structure, great dark fruit, lots of Grenache-y character, right down the middle in Rhone style, but beautifully executed.
Red
2001 Andrew Murray Syrah Hillside Reserve USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley
91 points
Decanted two hours. Solid wine, light on its feet but still quite new world. Good minerality, great structure. My main complaint is that it's kind of boring. There's nothing really jumping out. Good age.
Red - Fortified
1994 Smith Woodhouse Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
92 points
Very nice. The alcohol is very much in check, the fruit is dark and delicious, and it's started to come together as a whole package. The sweetness is balanced with structure. Delicious.
