Great citrus and honey notes. Very crisp and clean, great acidity, very clean, long finish.
Red
2008 Domaine de la Ferme St. Martin Beaumes-de-Venise Cuvée St. Martin France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Beaumes-de-Venise

Dark blackberries, black cherries, great black pepper component, little oak, nice acidity.
Red
2008 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
88 points
Raspberries, cherries, brown sugar, meaty/savory component, vibrant acidity, a bit hot on the finish.
Red
2008 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
91 points
Black pepper, bright red raspberries, sour cherries, nice acidity, long finish, perhaps a bit closed?
Red
2008 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
92 points
My favorite CdP of the tasting. A barnyard, earthy component to the nose. Mixture of red & black berries on the palate with a slightly herbaceous component. Super long finish. Very smooth and accessible now. Beautiful.
Red
2009 Comte Louis de Clermont-Tonnerre Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Herve France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
88 points
Very different from the 2008 CdPs of this tasting. This was riper, fruitier, jammier than the '08s. Meaty components, red berries, black pepper, jammy, bitter tannins on the finish. Medium length finish. Very young and needs more time.
Red
2009 Comte Louis de Clermont-Tonnerre Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Eleazar France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
90 points
Again, bigger than the '08s of this tasting. Darker berries than the '09 Herve, black pepper, really long finish, bitter tannins. Definitely needs more time.
Red
2008 Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 60 France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Cornas
92 points
Black pepper, savory, vibrant red berries, amazingly long finish, however, very restrained and elegant. Fantastic effort!
Red
2007 Stéphane Vedeau Côte-Rôtie J. Boutin "Bonnevaux" France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
91 points
Very vibrant fruit, red berries, sour cherries, some spice, great acidity. Needs more time.
Red
2004 Domaine Belle Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
94 points
My favorite of the afternoon's tasting. Amazing coffee beans on the nose and palate, some barnyard funk to the nose, very little oak component, the mid-palate blew my mind with it's intensity, incredibly smooth finish. Wow!
