Flight 1 - Gruners (2 notes)
White
2006 F.X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg
80 points
nose: some petrol-like characteristics, brown sugar, almost metallic
palate: high alcohol, fat, clunky. By far the most expensive bottle of the tasting, by far my least favorite. I would not drink this, and I certainly wouldn't buy it.

White
2009 Schloss Gobelsburg Grüner Veltliner Gobelsburger
88 points
nose: green, flowery, spinkling of honey
palate: crisp and refreshing, this is an easy-pleaser. Short finish, but what a delight of a wine.

Flight 2 - The Lone Muskateller (1 note)
White
2009 Nigl Gelber Muskateller
I just love this wine. Fresh, forward, honeysuckle nose, followed by a bracingly dry, almost grassy palate with a seamless cohesion. Fantastic stuff.
Flight 3 - Rieslings (2 notes)
White
2006 Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein
93 points
this was my WOTN. just a fantastic wine.
nose: stony, with a barely-there diesel note, it simply screamed riesling
palate: in a word, delicate. Refined, bordering on stemmy, but vibrantly tactile in the mouth. Ended dryly, but with a flower petal essence that simply captivated me. Really an eye-opener - I've never experienced Austrian riesling like this. Must buy more! 92-93 points.

White
2006 Prager Riesling Smaragd Dürnsteiner Hollerin
nose: caramel, lemondrop, toast. A nice combination
palate: toasty almost, it felt young and not quite complete. I think I tasted it too cold...as it warmed I remember approving of the flavors, but I neglected to write much more down. I definitely liked it, but it was overshadowed by the Hirsch.

Flight 4 - The Random Red (1 note)
Red
2000 Johann Schwarz Rot
oak slathered wine. Actually not very distinctive, other than copious amounts of oak. Drinkable, but nothing particularly interesting, nuanced, or worth more than $15. I feel bad for the suckers that bought this. :D
