Introduction

Great food arranged by Tim and the staff. A fantastic night all around.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

White - Off-dry
2009 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe

1st flight.

Lightest in color.
Nose was fresh with a little white flowers, peach, minerals going on.
Palate of light tropical fruit, flowers, lime, good amount of mineral and acid.
The freshest of the flight. 89-90
White - Off-dry
2007 Darting Ungsteiner Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese Germany, Pfalz

1st flight.
Nose was strong with canned peaches, little tropical, flowers.
Palate of white peaches, a little of the syrup from canned peaches as well, and decent minerality.
Solid wine.

Dark gold color.
Nose of apple pastry, funk, and a little adhesive.
Palate showed apple, dough, a little quince, nice petrol, and spice.
Felt dense.
90-91, my favorite of the flight

Nose of orange rind, oil, and salt.
Palate of orange rind, lemon, petrol, lots of whitegrapefruit, longer finish.
There was something at the midback to end of the finish that really showed off on the wine.
Not impressed with my offerring of the night.

Nose of peach, salt, mint, herb.
Palate of lime, lemon zest, a little tropical fruit, herb, salt.
Loved this wine, possibly my WOTN, definately my favorite of the flight.

Nose was of lime and minerals.
Palate of tart lime and salt, kind of like a tart margarita.
Shorter finish.

A real treat of a wine to try and experience, but showing well past its prime IMO.
Nose light citrus, with green bean, and herb.

Nose of candied grapefruit, funk fur, and minerals.
Palate tropical fruits, minerals, slate, lots of acidity, but felt dense.
Really opened up with air, but I wasn't taking notes at that point, this is made for the long haul.

Another good showing, but more fruit than the last time around, still a nice clean version of this wine.

I really think this was served out of order as the wine was very light.

Palate seemed very rich and sweet, showing notes of honey, floral, not much complexity, but an above average finish.

Sixth Flight.

Nose of petrol, burnt carmel, floral.
Palate of honey, floral, adhesive, petrol, and so dense that it was almost creamy. Long finish.
This needs a long time to really show its true potential.
