Red
2006 Schubert Pinot Noir Block B New Zealand, North Island, Wairarapa
91 points
Really funky. Classic aromatics. Beautiful Pinot Noir, a really good representation of the heights NZ can reach. 90-92

Flight 2 (14 notes)

White
2009 La Bellanotte Armonico Venezia Giulia IGT Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venezia Giulia IGT
88 points
3/21/11: Round. Medium bodied. Ok, but not a lot of depth here. 87-88

10/26/10: Medium rich body. Nice acidity. Clean. Lots of depth. Tasty stuff. Good price, as well. 88-90
Orange
2008 La Bellanotte Pinot Grigio Ramato Venezia Giulia IGT Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venezia Giulia IGT
88 points
Ramato is an Italian word referencing leaving the skins in contact. I believe this producer does this for three days with this wine. The results are likely to have two different camps, as this wine is of course not your typical PG. It's pretty heavy, with aromatics full of nuttiness and that slight oxidized aromas. It's full bodied on the palate. For the price, $25, I'm not sure what to think about it.
Red
2008 Ciavolich Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Ancilla Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
88 points
3/21/11: Tannic. Classic. Bright, with high acidity. Screaming for food. Very good, and a good choice for someone looking for the next step of Monte. 87-88

10/26/10: Tons of stuff going on in the aromatics. Some funk, great acidity. Really good Monte, at the next level that it is correctly priced at. 88
Red
2007 Le Bertille Chianti Colli Senesi Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Colli Senesi
89 points
3/21/11: Great aromatics. Delicious stuff, one of the better Senesi's I've had. Classic. Superbly balanced. Really rockin' Chianti. 90+

10/26/10: Cool, red cherry fruit. Has a softness in front of the acidity, almost a layered feel. Well balanced, and well done. This is good, on the plusher side. 88
Red
2007 Le Bertille Rosso di Montepulciano Italy, Tuscany, Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano
88 points
Some funk. Some mint. Good fruit, veering toward red. Nice balance. 88
Red
2007 Le Bertille Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Italy, Tuscany, Montepulciano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
90 points
Funky cool aromatics. Funkaliscious. Savory. Nice wine. 90+
Red
2008 Antico Borgo Di Sugame Chianti Classico Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
91 points
3/21/11: Funky, barnyard nose. This is George Clinton All-Stars Funky on the nose. Awesome stuff. Savory. There aren't any other Chianti's being imported into America like this. 91-92

10/26/10: Woah, that is some incredible aromatics on this wine. Very funky, with mint, barnyard, and animal thing. On the palate, which I got to after about a minute of smelling this, it's high acid, with the funkiness still there. This is a rustic Chianti that doesn't compare very much to anything available. I like it, though I'm not quite sure what to do with it. 90-91
Red
2007 Antico Borgo Di Sugame Chianti Classico Riserva Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
92 points
Funky, minty nose. Savory. Rich, classic, red fruits. Great structure and balance. I think I'm going to go with the regular bottling at $25 versus this for $40. 92+
Red
2008 Camerano Dolcetto d'Alba Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba
90 points
3/21/11: Funky, cool aromatics. Bright, too. Great structure. Really nice stuff. 89-90

10/26/10: Soft, lush, meaty, funky aromatics. Truly fantastic aromatics. There's a great juiciness on the palate of this wine. Cherries. Really delicious. This is extremely well done. 89-90
Red
2008 Camerano Barbera d'Alba Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba
90 points
Funky, minty nose. Bright and beautiful Barbara.
Red
2004 Camerano Barolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
93 points
3/21/11: Amazing Barolo aromatics. Stunning aromatics. The palate isn't at the amazing level of the nose, but is still quite nice indeed. Already accessible. Fantastic wine, and worth the moderate tarif. 93+

10/26/10: Oh boy, this has a beautiful, fantastic nose. Red fruits, flowers. The wine itself is quite beautiful, made in a more feminine mold. The tannins and acidity are actually in check right now. You can hold this sure, but also drink it right now. This is a great Barolo, looking for elegance and persistence over brute power. 92-94
Red
2004 Camerano Barolo Cannubi San Lorenzo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
94 points
Super funky aromatics. Bigger, more tannic then the Terlo. Beautiful wine, but this needs time. 94-95
White - Sparkling
2010 Gianni Doglia Moscato d'Asti Italy, Piedmont, Asti, Moscato d'Asti
88 points
Fresh. Delicious, easy going fun Moscato.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2008 La Bellanotte Picolit Venezia Giulia IGT Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Venezia Giulia IGT
93 points
Sweet, intense, yummilicious. Apricots.
