Great aromatics. Bright. Some nice minerality. Cool and bright. Very nice.
White
2009 Bodegas Angel Rodriguez Verdejo Rueda Martínsancho Spain, Castilla y León, Rueda
91 points
Funky cool, herbal aromatics. Cool nose. Intense minerality. Really cool stuff, though I don't think this reaches the level that I remember for the '08.
Red
2009 Pueblo Del Sol Tannat Uruguay, Canelones, Juanicó
86 points
A little different. Easy going. Bright fruit. Some juiciness. A little tannic grip. A bit of that cheap fake wine thing at first, but upon reflection it's not bad. Either way, for about $10, it works.
Red
2009 Viña Gormaz Ribera del Duero Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
87 points
Soft, Cinnamon nose. Easy going. Nice fruit. Good. Fresh. 87-88
Red
2008 Hedges Family Estate CMS USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
87 points
Bright raspberry fruit. Soft, with hints of vanilla. Medium bodied. Easy going and bright. Consistently and good value.
Red
2004 Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Dehesa la Granja Spain, Castilla y León, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León
90 points
Softer, easier going. Pretty. Nice fruit. The elegant style of Tempranillo, although I'm sure the bottle age has a lot to do with that. 89-90
Red
2007 Hedges Family Estate Red Mountain USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain
91 points
Classic Red Mountain fruit on the nose. A little oak. Softer then previous vintages. Some tannins, but they are enveloped. Luxurient. Very nice.
Red
2008 Pasanau Priorat Ceps Nous Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
92 points
Funky, with that Priorat thing, I think of clay, chalk, menthol. Also, there's some earth and minerals. Bright. Tons of fruit. Spice as well. Black Pepper. Not fat at all. Delicious stuff.
