This was one of my favorite wines of the vertical. Wonderful nose of cherries, mocha and a meaty/earthy component. Very well balanced and structured on the palate with smooth silky tannins. Long lingering finish.

The palate was smooth and packed with nice berries and plums. Nice dry tannins and a lovely finish.

Didn't like this as much as the '97 Insignia. Seemed more aged on nose, cherries and a little meatiness. On the palate I got cherries and meaty/earthy note. This was dryer than Insignia on the finish.

One of the better '98 Napa cabs I've had so far. Dark fruit, earth and backed up by some nice spiciness on the nose. Powerful mouth feel, plenty of silky tannins and a nice chocolate/mocha along with dark fruit on the palate. Long finish.

Another great champagne. I've a big fan of Veuve's LGD. Nice apple, honey, yeasty, bread dough aromas.
Palate sings with bread dough, yeasty, honeyed goodness. Great length on this wine with a long finish. This is still so young, it will be fun to see where this will be in another five plus years.

Flight 4 - The White's (6 notes)

Nice bottle of white Bdx. On the nose I got a nice petrol/diesel note as well as plenty of candied tropical fruits and bees wax. Nice waxy lemon spritz on the palate, with a slight burnt petrol note along with a smooth mineral finish.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the two RM's. Great aromas of rubber, petrol with lemon/orange zest. On the palate there was this nice oily, candied tropical fruit flavors going on. Nice finish on this.

My first experience with SQN's white wines and this was a joy to sip. Waxy, lemony, candied tropical fruit aromas. Palate had waves of candied fruit, petrol, bees wax and nice minerality. Little hot on the backend. Short finish.

Day two
The nose was more pronounced than the night before and the wine was more giving on the palate. Buttery-lemons, nice minerality, tropical fruit galore. long creamy finish. This wine definitely needed air time to open up.
