Flight 1 - Finished 2009 Whites (8 notes)

White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. It comes from parcels all across the village. One third is situated around the Premier Crus and the other two thirds comes form the northern end near Batard Montrachet. Rripe yellow fruits, a touch of vanilla and creamy lemon. Well-textured medium bodied palate. Nice finish.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. Comes form near the top of the vineyard where there is quite a heavier presence limestone. The wine has very fragrant aromatics of lemon peel and yellow flowers. It's medium bodied with great texture and a nice dose of refreshing acidity and minerality on the finish. Outstanding wine.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. A riper, slightly more expressive nose than the Vergers. Notes of lemon curd, white peach and some vanilla. Made in a fresh, juicy style. Great balance of fruit and minerality. Medium finish.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. This is often the first picked vineyard as it gets quite a bit of sun and ripens quickly. It is right beside Vergers but totally different. Mineral and lime peel dominated aromatics with a bit of pear and white flower as well. Creamy but not overripe palate with very nice minerality and cleansing acidity on the finish. Very good.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Botted two weeks prior. Slightly spicy nose of yellow fruits with some grilled bread notes. A bit denser than the previous wines. Great texture with creamy, warm fruits on the palate. Moderate finish with a great balance of acidity and minerality. Very nice.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. From the climats of Le Cardeuse and Les Fairendes. Dense, spicy nose of baked yellow fruits and vanilla. Very good density on the palate as well, with creamy lemon/lime custard. Very nice acidity with good structure, but less mineral than some of the others in the line up. Lengthy finish.
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled two weeks prior. The oldest vineyard of the estate, planted in 1939. Very impressive aromatics - creamy yellow fruits, stone fruit and pear with pretty spice. Medium bodied with outstanding balance and a great mineral streak running through it. Long finish. Fantastic!
White
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
From barrel at the Domaine. Scheduled to be bottled in just a few days. They make only one barrel and this is his 2nd year doing it. All from the Chassagne side of Batard. Rich, opulent aromas of yellow peach, lemon and white flowers. Dense, medium bodied palate with plenty of creamy lemon and a very pretty mineral component. Long, powerful finish with great acidity. Wow! Definitely need some of this in the cellar.

Flight 2 - A few reds (4 notes)

Red
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Bourgogne Passetoutgrains France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Passetoutgrains
From bottle at the Domaine. Pretty red berries. A touch of game and spice. Good balance and ready to drink now. A very nice Passetoutgrain.
Red
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
From bottle at the Domaine. Bottled last week of January. Expressive, elegant dark red fruits. Great mineral driven palate with very nice acidity. Good length. Missing the rusticity that is often found in Chassagne Rouge. Probably the best Chassagne rouge I've ever tasted.
Red
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Volnay 1er Cru Santenots France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
From tank at the Domaine, just before bottling. Elegant dark red/black berry nose with notes of cherry as well. Crushed stone and a touch of earth. Soft, elegant palate, but no lack of structure. Beautiful acidity and minerality on the medium finish. Good grip.
Red
2009 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
From tank at the Domaine, just before bottling. Deep, brooding aromatics of cassis and crushed blueberry. Bits of earth too. The ripe, dark berry fruit is on the medium bodied palate as well. A great deal of structure to the wine with gripping tannins and a long finish. Great stuff.

Flight 3 - One 2008 White to finish. (1 note)

White
2008 Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
From bottle at the Domaine. Intense mineral notes on the nose with bits of juicy lemon and white flowers. Gripping acidity and minerality all throughout. Palate has fattened up since the last time I had it. Some grilled bread and smoke notes as well. Searing finish. Very nice!
