Always a great bottle. Stood up just fine next to the Cab Sauvs we had, with darker fruits, some cola, and really nice texture and smooth tannins. 4th bottle of this I've had in 2011, and they've been drinking perfectly this year I believe.

Drinking very well now, but still has plenty of life left in it. This is very smooth, with really fine tannins that are even more smoothed out by some age. Currant, dark berry, a hint of herb spice and tobacco. Really nice bottle.

Very nice, but might have been a bit closed down at this stage. Still had deep flavors, black cherry/blackberry, with lots of body and texture, but it overall seemed a bit muted to me. I'm going to give the other bottle I have another 5 years perhaps, I think this will evolve nicely.
White - Sparkling
2002 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année France, Champagne

I probably enjoyed this champagne the most out of any I've previously tried. I rarely drink it, but am starting to think I might have to keep a few bottles of something like this Bollinger around.

I had a bit of Cristal (2004 I believe) recently at a tasting, and I very much prefer this Bollinger.

This had a beautiful fresh fruit nose and palate to it, apples, pears, florals. Bright acidity and a definite French minerality.

My wine of the night for New Years. This is a big, fruit filled, smooth, buttery, rich bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon goodness. Huge dark fruit and spice flavors, with big tannins to match, but the two are in harmony and well balanced with each other. Decanted, but not for too long before drinking, I think this could easily pop and pour well.

Amazing that it's so young. I think I'll be securing some more of this wine, since I stupidly only bought part of my allocation of it upon release. This is only going to get better...

With the quality of the 09 Etain, I'm now very much looking forward to the 09 Scarecrow release in the next couple months...

This was interesting. This almost actually tasted like a fortified wine, Madeira or something along those lines. I don't have real notes on this one; we were a bit toasty by the time we got to it :)
