Introduction

As we did not receive the mature wines we had ordered in time, we had improvise a bit.

Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
2007 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Nuits St. Georges Clos des Fourches France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
89 points
Clear, ruby colour. Aceton, earth and raspberry candy on the nose. Quite closed now. Very structured, good acidity and some tannins. Very long taste. Young wine, good aging potential.
Red
2001 Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Castello di Brolio Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
86 points
Very dark and deep colour. Oaky nose. Also some chocolate, coffee and dark berries. Full-bodied and intense on the palate. Still quite some tannins. Very dry, woody finish. Not very much like a Chianti, international style.
Red
2000 Château Leret-Monpezat Cahors France, Southwest France, Cahors
87 points
Dark and tight colour, some orange edge. Aroma of meat, rusty iron and wet fur. Medium body, fleshy, smooth and rather dry. Nice, rustique style. Probably at it's best now.
Red
2004 Cabutto Barolo Tenuta La Volta Vigna La Volta Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
90 points
Quite light and clear brick. Perfumed aroma, coctail berries and raspberries. Full-bodied, nice, deep fruit. Very dry finish. Lots of tannins. Very young now, great potential. Will wait 3-4 more years before I try it again.

Flight 2 (1 note)

2009 Giuseppe Campagnola Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Casotto del Merlo Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Recioto della Valpolicella Classico

Classic recioto, very nice fruit.
