Dark purple colour. Cherry, berries, herbs and smokey nose. Layers of dark fruit and kirsch on the palate. Well lineated and powerful. Several 'forest' nuances and herbs. Enough tannins for the years to come, but (surprisingly) well drinkable now. Guessed it was 2001.

1999 Tardieu-Laurent Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Colour shows signs of age. Meat, herbs and spices and cherries in the nose. Many secondary tones. Full, complex and very CR on the palate. Some pepper and many herbal tones. The Clusel Roch 1999 beside this bottle was more interesting, 'younger' and better.
Red
1999 Clusel-Roch Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
94 points
Bright red some ruby on the rim. True-to-type in the nose, smoke, flesh, smoked bacon and earth tones. Beautiful intense and youthful (fraicheur) on the palate with meat, earth, vanilla, pepper, herbs and blood tones. Complex, Elegant and Classic Cote Rotie! Well integrated tannins in the after taste. Drinks well now but should keep for another decade easily.
Red
1999 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
86 points
Expected a lot more, disappointing. Rustic style, wood, fruit, tobacco tones.
Red
1996 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
94 points
Aged brick colour. Cedar and cigar box tones in the nose, even ash more than cigar. Very powerful palate that seems much younger than colour shows, VERY elegant and typical Chave. Meat and herbs tones and whiff of tangerine, tobacco tones in the aftertaste.
Red
2006 Sine Qua Non Grenache Raven Series USA, California
Deep dark red colour. Cake, licorice, ripe cherry and pepper in the nose. Nice balance on the palate but heavy wine, nearly liquor. Compote, jammy fruits, trifle/ bread and butter pudding notes. Excellent wine, very pure, but too heavy for me.
Red
2009 Jean-Michel Stephan Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
93 points
Excellent Rotie. Thick fruits, kirsch and even some apple/ lemon zest tones and the typical CR 'sweet smoke' in the nose. Elegant palate with thick fruit tones, very nice.
