Introduction

Have too much wine laying around, and don't drink enough. Decided to put together a quick flight of things I have kicking around.

Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2008 Joh. Jos. Prüm Riesling Kabinett Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
88 points
color: pale yellow. nose: explosive lemon zest, chalk, salinity, ocean air. palate: sweet lemon.. a little light on the acidity for me. decent weight. nose really makes this wine.
White
2008 Château des Roches Sec France, Bordeaux
79 points
color: pale straw. nose: lemon, peach, nectarine. reticent bouquet, even when served at 60 degrees. palate: light, hit of acidity. lemon juice. slight chalk. finishes within 10 seconds. unoffensive. probably should have been drunk younger.
White
2009 Domaine de la Solitude (Lançon Père et Fils) Côtes du Rhône Blanc France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône
75 points
color: very pale straw-yellow. nose: giving up little. basically non-existent. vague rubbery/plastic sensation, but that may be ambient in the room, as i'm struggling to pull out anything from this. palate: nice weight. floral/herbaceous sensation on the mid palate. awkward astringent acidity kick on the back with a wollop of alcohol. finish has decent length. awkward wine.
Red
2009 Cantine Galasso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Fiorano Italy, Abruzzi, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
85 points
color: rich dark purple-red. nose: predominant note i'm getting is butter, which is very weird. grape soda. light nose. palate: tannin and acidity blast on the front. burnt blackberries. decent finish. pretty good value for the money. needs food, and some time to decant.
Red
2005 Hyde De Villaine Belle Cousine Hyde Vineyard USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
86 points
color: dark, rich, youthful cabernet color. nose: cassis liqueur, sweet oak, blueberry. palate: tannic. oaked. fruit character hidden by youthful oak and tannic character. toasted herb and scorched earth. somewhat savory. drinkable now, but needs more time. decent character and weight.
