White
2010 d'Arenberg Roussanne The Money Spider Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

Very light straw in the glass. Crisp peach nose with light honeysuckle. Medium to light bodied with ripe light stone fruit. Fairly tasty.
White
2010 d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

Pale straw in the glass. Lightly floral with a touch of a sweet almond note. Medium bodied, fresh, pleasant.

Flight 2 (10 notes)

Red
2009 d'Arenberg Mourvedre The Twentyeight Road Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Somewhat translucent dark garnet. Fragrant with lots of new oak. Somewhat astringent. I don't care for this.
Red
2009 d'Arenberg Grenache The Derelict Vineyard Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Translucent dark garnet in the glass. Fragrant cherry, new oak, a touch of port-like bottle sweetness, eucalyptus. Ripe sweet cherry fruit. Okay.
Red
2009 d'Arenberg The Cadenzia Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Mostly opaque dark garnet in the glass. Aromas of meat, minerals, and cherry on the nose. Medium full bodied with ripe supple cherry and licorice. Not bad.
Red
2008 d'Arenberg The Laughing Magpie Shiraz-Viognier Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
90 points
Pretty much opaque dark garnet in the glass. Light apricot on the nose with a touch of meat and berry. Medium full bodied with flavors echoing the nose. This is cofermented at 15% Viognier, then they blend in Dead Arm reject barrels to bring it to the desired level of Viognier given the vintage.
Red
2008 d'Arenberg The Wild Pixie Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
89 points
95% Shiraz, 5% Roussanne. Pretty much opaque dark garnet in the glass. Nutty lifted cherry and honey on the nose. Interesting. Medium full bodied. The palate is a bit simple relative to the nose with straightforward dark fruit.
Red
2008 d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Ripe cherry and spices on the nose. Medium full bodied on the palate with ripe fruit but retaining a savory element across the palate. Not bad.
Red
2008 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Dead Arm Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
92 points
This is grown on original rootstock and named after a virus that kills arms of the vine. Opaque dark garnet in the glass - a little inky. Sweet oak toast on the nose. Full bodied with ripe berry fruit. Fairly lush but there are tannins lurking underneath. This is pretty good, but seems a little over the top at 11am and after tasting through the rather delicate Northern Rhone wines of Les Vin de Vienne.
Red
2009 d'Arenberg Shiraz The Eight Iron Scarce Earth Single Vineyard Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
92 points
Opaque dark garnet in the glass. Fragrant new oak with a floral element on the nose. Overall a pretty nice nose. Ripe berry fruit on the palate that comes across as brighter and a bit less heavy and brooding than the Dead Arm. Apparently the grapes for this wine are usually included in Dead Arm. 92-93.
Red
2009 d'Arenberg Grenache Blewitt Springs Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
91 points
Translucent dark ruby garnet in the glass. Sweet oak and ripe cherry nose. Bright crunchy cherry fruit on the palate. Pretty good.
Red
2009 d'Arenberg Grenache The Beautiful View Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Slightly translucent dark garnet in the glass. Somewhat earthy, dry dusty nose with slate and cherry. The palate shows ripe somewhat crunchy cherry fruit and slate. Okay.

Flight 3 (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
2010 d'Arenberg The Noble Mud Pie Australia, South Australia
Golden in the glass. Fragrant honey and stone fruit. Very sweet with nectar-like flavors. Not bad, but a bit too sweet for my preferences.
