Out of magnum. Dark ruby with a touch of lightening at the rim. Incredibly complex nose dominated by spiced cherry and dried roses. Very burgundian. Light on its feet but still quite powerful. Elegant and graceful. I liked this more than others, I think because for them it suffered somewhat in comparison to the 2 bruising heavyweights served alongside. For me it was the epitome of a classic bartolo mascarello - perfumed and elegant, yet with obvious power beneath. A gorgeous bottle of wine.

Dark ruby with the barest hint of lightening at the rim. WOW. Amazing texture, so smooth and yet has a great structure of balanced tannins and acidity. Dark fruits and menthol. Incredibly sweet, yet not cloying. Unbelievably complex, with tobacco, tar, more menthol, and lots of ripe nebbiolo fruit emerging from the galss as it opens. Very long flinish. In any other company, the wine of the night and possibly in another year the wine of the year. but the wine below stole the show.

Turns everything to 11. Incredible depth of fruit. Menthol, tar, earth and lots of ripe dark fruits on the nose. Impeccable balance. Dense but not at all heavy. Beautiful mouthfeel, silky and mouthcoating with as long a finish as I have experienced. All you can expect a wine to be - but I think it will be even better in 10 years, hence the 99. Ageless and Immortal.
