Flight 1 (4 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Jean Baillette-Prudhomme Champagne Premier Cru Brut Nature France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
88 points
nose: intensely fruity, with apples and berries most prominent. Maybe some lychee as well? THe nose was really pleasantly aromatic.
palate: crisply mineraled. The finish was like liquid rock. Very rocky. I liked it, and I usually don't go for no-dosage wines. But I liked the nose better than the palate, in the end. 4 years on lees.

White - Sparkling
N.V. Perrot-Batteux et Filles Champagne Cuvée Helixe Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne
89 points
nose: sweet citrus and stone fruits
palate: definitely sweeter than the non-dosage Champagne before. Also more plush, though it finishes lightly and a bit short. STill, quite tasty BdB.

N.V. J. Charpentier Champagne Brut Réserve France, Champagne
87 points
I actually found the nose of this wine rather boring, a little grapey. THe palate was round and fleshy, with a superlatively dry finish. Kind of not really my thing, it was my least favorite of the tasting, though it wasn't bad by any means. 86-87 pts
White - Sparkling
2004 Pascal Redon Champagne Brut Millésimé France, Champagne
91 points
nose: rocks and fruit salad
palate: supremely balanced, this was also the most 'traditional' tasting Champagne of the tasting. Full palate, weighty and delicious - my favorite of the four.
