Flight 1 (5 notes)

Rosé
2008 Lawson's Dry Hills Pinot Noir Rosé New Zealand, South Island, Marlborough
89 points
Dark pommegranate. Initially this showed signs of overmaturity, but after some time it displayed lovely pinot noir aromatics of red cherry and raspberry with herbal scents. Med+ bodied (for a rose), rich and generous with balancing acidity. More structured than what you expect from a rose with a long aftertaste. Ranked at Nr. 5, probably due to the fact that it was tasted before unfolding completely.
Rosé
2011 Kir-Yianni Akakies Greece, Macedonia, Amyndaio
86 points
Medium pommegranate red. Expressive nose with strawberry, red cherry and tomato. Medium-bodied, nicely balanced with a medium, slightly bitter aftertaste. Ranked at Nr.6
Rosé
2007 Château Pradeaux Bandol Rosé France, Provence, Bandol
84 points
Clearly past its prime with oxidation notes of wet wool and vegetality. Medium-bodied, quite rich, with a long aftertaste. Has seen better days. Ranked at Nr.6 with Akakies.
Rosé
2010 Chapel Down English Rose United Kingdom, England, Kent
86 points
My first English wine, and surprisingly not a sparkling one. Light salmon color. Sweet nose of apricot and candy. Medium-bodied, refreshing and pleasent with high acidity. A blend of schonbuger, rondo, regent, dornfelder and pinot noir. Ranked at Nr.8.
Rosé
2011 Angelos Noulas Dialogos Gris de Noir Greece
88 points
This was the palest wine of the bunch. Light onion-skin grey-pink. Nice nose with tropical fruits like mango, mellon and nectarine. Medium-bodied, crispy and vibrant with a med+ aftertaste of capsicum. 100% cabernet sauvignon. Ranked at Nr.3 despite its unique character.

Flight 2 (5 notes)

Rosé
2011 Theopetra Estate Rosé Greece, Thessaly, Meteora
87 points
Ranked at Nr.2. Dark cherry red. Surprisingly oaky nose for a rose, with cherry syrup, vanilla and spice. Medium-bodied, quite rich on the palate with balancing acidity and a med+ spicy aftertaste.
Rosé
2011 Dryopi Dryopi Ktima Dryopi Greece, Peloponnisos, Nemea
85 points
Dark cherry red. Cherry-flavored bubblegum and candy on the nose. Med-bodied, quite rich and sweet with balancing acidity and a satisfactorily long aftertaste. Not my prefered style. Good as an apperitif only. Ranked 4th however.
Rosé
2010 Tenuta Ulisse Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Único Italy, Abruzzi, Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo
89 points
W.O.T.N. by a clear margin. Dark cherry red. Fresh cherry, eucalyptus, camphor and undenberg digestive on the nose. Medium-bodied with rich and refreshing fruit, balancing acidity and a savory bitter note on the long aftertaste.
Rosé
2011 Crios de Susana Balbo Rosé of Malbec Argentina, Mendoza
87 points
Dark cherry pink. Berry fruit and licorice on the nose. The fruitiest wine of the bunch, with noticeable sweetness and balancing acidity. Fairly long aftertaste. A well made and easy to like wine, so I was surprised it ranked at Nr.9.
Rosé
2011 Sigalas Rosé Greece, Aegean, Cyclades
82 points
Fairly dark pommegranate. Unclean nose with acetone, leather and cherry/strawberry candy. Medium bodied with noticeable tannins and high acidity. Med aftertaste. Ranked last, at Nr.10. Not a surprise.
