Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
1985 Château La Mission Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
92 points
Medium red, brownish on the rim. Autumn notes in the nose, leather, lots of chocolate cherries and kirsch. Powerful palate with underwood and autumn tones with medicinal tones in the finish. Disappointing next to the Palmer and Lynch Bages 1985 which came across as much younger than the Mission. Drink soon.

Red
1985 Château Palmer France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
93 points
Strong mineral and iron tones in the nose plus fresh roasted coffee-beans and tobacco. And some kind of "Pessac mist" hanging over all three 1985's (Mission HB, Palmer and Lynch Bages) we're drinking today. Classic iron tones and mixed dried fruit mix and cranberry on the palate. Velvety and round with a long lingering finish. Drink now - 2016.
Red
1985 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
95 points
Another complex and highly attractive Lynch Bages. Dark notes and iron in the nose, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, medicine and eucalyptus. Powerful palate (in the style of Bdx 1990) with kirsch and more dark fruit tones as well as a surprising freshness. An excellent wine, keeps well.
